Owned by The Shellharbour Workers Club and designed by Welsh + Major, Mammoth Projects was appointed to conduct a complete refurbishment and fitout of the heritage-listed site that has been closed for the past 20 years.
The scope of works consisted of a three-floor refurbishment and fitout, including two commercial kitchens, two bars, a lift, a dumb waiter and a three-level terrace deck extension. Mammoth had to excavate and underpin the building to transform the basement into multiple fully functional private dining areas.
Mammoth handled the construction of all civil works, including 34 car spaces, a parking space monitoring system, and RMS works to the footpath and curb. After managing the site through two COVID-19 lockdowns, the historical Imperial Clifton has opened its doors once again.
The Imperial Hotel recently received the Australian Institute of Architects Award for Heritage-Creative Adaptation along with Mammoth Projects being awarded the Master Builders Association of NSW Award for Excellence.
